Most big game hunting begins in September with archery Deer and Elk seasons, followed in October with the general Mule Deer season. Those seasons are followed shortly with the general Elk season, which extends into November.

Hikers and bicyclers often prefer this season, with warm sunny days and cold clear nights to take that one last trek to the Sawtooths.  The weather is still mild, but the big crowds of summer have moved on.  You can relax and enjoy the season.
