Valley Creek, which is 30 to 40 feet wide, runs very near our property. Fishing season is open on Valley Creek from Memorial Day Weekend through October. The BEST TIME for fishing Valley Creek is early to late June through September. The Main Salmon River (1/2 mile east of us) is OPEN ALL YEAR for Rainbow, Brook and Cutthroat Trout. The Open season for sea-run Steelhead Trout in the Main Salmon River is January 1 through April 30 of each year. The lakes near the valley floor, such as Redfish, Stanley, Pettit and Alturas are open all year, but are ice covered from December till the end of May. The best time for fishing these lakes is mid-June through early-September. The high mountain lakes are usually frozen over until late-June or early-July. The best time for fishing these lakes is Mid-July through September. Licenses are available locally and are reasonably priced, even for non-residents.
