WATCHABLE WILDLIFE of Central Idaho
Moose in Spring
Pronghorn
Progeny
The opportunities for viewing wildlife are abundant in Central Idaho... ranging from the sly Red Fox
and
Coyote to the majestic Wapiti Elk or
Bald Eagle and a
myriad
of other species that make the Central Idaho Rockies their home.
Black bear can be seen in the area as well as badgers, otters, sandhill
cranes and snipe. Mountain goats and bighorn sheep can be seen down
the Salmon river from Stanley. Pronghorns
can be seen almost every late spring and summer afternoon in the Sawtooth valley
between Fourth of July Creek and Busterback Ranch. The gray
wolf is in the area and can sometimes be seen in early morning, or may be
heard howling at night. Stay at Valley Creek Lodge & RV Park and enjoy
the wildlife viewing in the area!
